For my assignment I chose to review the MacBook Pro, as suggested by the reading; “personal computers are a safe choice.” I chose the MacBook Pro because myself and my coworkers use Macs in the workplace as our personal computer of choice. In my experience, many work places tend to either lean towards PCs or Macs. Because I personally prefer Apple products over Microsoft, I decided to review the Apple website and the organizational patterns concerning their product, the MacBook Pro (https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/).
The Features section (https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/features-retina/) of the website uses the partition organizational pattern. They broke down both the 13″ and 15″ models of the MacBook Pro and discussed each feature, such as the retina display, track pad, storage, core processors, etc. The websites outlines what to expect from each model, which helps the customers decide which model is best. Following my review of the Features section, I continued on to the Tech Specs section (https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/) which used the comparison-and-contrast organizational pattern. Apple compares the retina display, price, processor, memory, storage, size and support, etc. of the 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro models. The website outlines the differences in a very accessible way for customers, and it is very easy to navigate. A customer who may be interested in the overall difference in storage can just scroll down to that section and get the information. The two models are side-by-side as well, so customers don’t have to scroll up and down to figure out how the two models compare.
Finally, I visited the Support section (https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro/) for the MacBook Pro which used the problem-methods-solution organizational pattern. This section begins with a list of tabs that customers can click on, depending on what/where there problem is. The tab then redirects you to a page containing information on that problem. There is a list of “learn more..” depending on the issue you are having and suggestions on how to overcome them. I noticed that there are a variety of options available to customers, to help them find the solution to their problem. And of course, if the solution cannot be found in this section, they can call customer service.
